REPORTER BIO

Matt Maynard

Matt is a passionate writer, ultra-runner and environmentalist. He lives in the mountains near Chile’s capital Santiago. From here he can venture to the Altiplano of the Atacama or the wilds of Patagonia without ever needing his passport.

For seven consecutive years as a child he trained in the mile distance, when running permanently late for his school bus. As an adult he turned to more leisurely and less timetabled adventures across continents on his bicycle and mountain passes by foot.

He currently writes about South America and beyond for a wide range of publications. His stories seek to draw on that clarity we have when living life with determination and truthfulness. You can read Matt’s article, “Ride the Divide” in issue X of Get Out There.
